Well, one of the issues is that the diagnosis of FM is kinda nebulous and ill defined. I've seen some doctors just go "OK, we've done every test under the sun and you still have pain? FM, have some Kytil."

That does actually make me wonder what the numbers are. I'd figure the drug-seekers would be less because frankly, it's not really an effective strategy at getting opiates: Most doctors that are willing to work with a FM diagnosis ( which isn't guaranteed and thus the first hurdle to doctor shopping) , they don't prescribe opiates because as you noted, opiates aren't effective against this sort of pain.
