Oct. 28th, 2009 @ 12:10 am So, borderlands
Here's what I've done so far.

1.) Get stuck repeatedly right at the start of the game, because the first NPC you meet was glitched
2.) Have bits and pieces of quests go missing, making them unsolvable.
3.) Invincible boss npcs with infinite hit points
4.) Invisible exp walls, I've hit 10 and it simply doesn't go farther after that, it just stops
5.) Random quests break in multiplayer, desynching me me from those I'm playing with and making me have to drop to single player to try to catch up.
6.) Had all my skill points vanish.
7.) Totally forgot this one, if you customize your win7 at all, your game...WILL NOT SAVE YOUR DATA. GENIUS!

I'm now on my 8th character, six of the ones before that are glitched and broken, unable to progress in the game any further, so I had to stop using them.

Other than THOSE things, it's an awesome game I guess -_-

The only problem I had was networking issues. ^.^;;

I managed to fix them too. Apparently they were on my end?

All the bugs you mentioned are mentioned on their forum though, on the list of things they're aware of and working on. You must have really bad luck to get them all. o.o;;

So if they're aware of them, why did they release the game?

Stupid arbitrary deadlines, that's why.

They delayed the PC release to make bug fixes...I shudder to think what they fixed.

It's a list of things they're aware of because players reported them, so that the players know they're trying to fix the problems.

Some of them include bugs that happen less than 5minutes into the game and it's wide spread, across many system configurations. How the hell do you miss that?

You make the game for consoles, delay the PC version under the false claim of a day0 patch to boost console sales, and then release your sloppy port that reeks of consolitis.

Because it doesn't matter how badly people complain, they'll still buy it, or already bought it!

Increase the pirating of the copy that leaked before the 360 version was even released, there, fixed ;)

I suppose it really depends on what is causing the problems. No testing environment is 100% and it's possible it worked on all their test computers. Though, to be honest, I don't think that's the truth. I think they really did just release a buggy game, that they knew was buggy, because some suits said 'Now!'.

I did have a bug happen today, though it wasn't game-stopping. When I went back to the newbie area to grab loot, Claptrap was moved to the spot behind the learn-to-jump fence and he was yelling, and he just stayed there. He moved to where he was supposed to be when I restarted the game.

All right. That explanation takes responsibility off the managers and puts it directly on the shoulders of an inept QA team who couldn't find such major bugs.

I had number 6 happen to me. None of the others.

It will be great when it's patched, and such simple issues are solved. Honestly, loosing character data, quest token exchanges not working, what rudimentary RPG stuff that they've managed to completely bone. I guess they were too well used to milking mediocre WWII FPSes to develop basic coding or quality assurance skills? Actually the state of the game smacks of the publisher interfering and demanding a pre-holiday release date.

I'm not sure how I feel about the wholesale appropriation of GIR.

I just totally don't like it. Give me Fallout 3 back any day. I had the robot freeze on the first couple quests and that was enough to make me not want to do it anymore real quick.

Hmmm. As much as I'm enjoying the game already, I have to admit I've already encountered bug #1 myself; more specifically, after killing all the bandits raiding Fyrestone and going to meet the doctor, Claptrap just stood there. Thankfully it was in the first 10 minutes of playing, and I got a really nifty pistol with a scope on it from a chest, but... yeah, not exactly a reassuring concept.

Actually, though, this does remind me of something I've noticed in relation to the amount of 'hype' a game gets and how many bugs it has on release compared to the general opinion of the game... more specifically, the rather nasty treatment Cryptic's Champions Online has been getting from that, compared to, say, this game. May be worth looking into further.

Make sure he's not just standing there waiting for you to push the button to open the gate. I think there's a point after you get into the first gates that you have to push a button after he tries to open the gates and they don't work. So you have to push the button, and then the gate opens.

No, he stops in the middle of his path, just stops and stands there, doing nothing, it's a place he doesn't normally stop.

I'm almost positive he wasn't just waiting for me; it was the scene where he 'knocks' on the door to let Doc know it's safe to come out. Hell, my SO told me right off the bat that I'd have to restart, so I'm guessing it happened to him too... and I may've missed something, but there's no way he did.

Weird, mine works perfectly fine. I got it on Steam. It might be Win7. Try setting it to Vista compatibility mode?

I tried everything, it just doesn't work. I have to wait for a patch. Every single issue I have had is a known issue, that they know of, no ETA.

Damn. Well, here's hoping Dragon Age: Origins fares better? :D Of course, it's Bioware, who's known for not only putting out well-crafted games, but their PC ports of console games are usually better than the originals.

I heart video games, don't you? :P This is why it's always wicked fun to wait for, like, a year before you buy a game.
